Chipu's Barthes U20 title hopes dented after Namibia defeat

Kenya's Under-20 rugby team Chipu Wednesday fell to Namibia 32-22 in their second match of the ongoing Barthes U20 Trophy in Harare, Zimbabwe.

Kenya, who are the defending champions, had tough luck in their second game despite starting brilliantly in the opening exchanges trailing 0-3 at half time.

Chipus opened the second half with a try to lead 7-3 but Namibia hit back almost instantly but missed the conversion to lead by only a point.

It was end to end action as Chipu and Namibia traded tries with Kenya being the last team to go over the whitewash to end the game 32-22.

Kenya will be gutted by the missed conversions that cost them crucial points but will be looking to dust themselves up and ready for the next match.

This was Namibia's second win at the Barthes trophy after they whitewashed hosts Zimbabwe 41-22 in their opening game.

Chipu kicked off their title defence with a narrow 29-21 victory over a resilient Tunisia side over the weekend.

To retain their title they won last year, Chipu must defeat hosts on Sunday, and hope Namibia lose their final match against Tunisia.
