Chepsaiata Cross Country: We want 'a clean competition', AK's Korir says
Athletics Kenya Nairobi branch chairman Barnaba Korir says strict measures are being put in place to make sure everyone participating in the Chepsaita Cross Country Championship is’ clean to compete’.
Speaking on
Citizen TV's Sporty Monday show, Korir said the federation is working closely
with the anti-doping agency of Kenya to make sure that every participant in the
race is clean and to make sure there is fairness among the athletes.
“We are putting
in place strict measures to make sure that all those who will be participating
in the race run clean, we are working closely with ADAK to make sure that there
is fairness in the competition and I am sure it will be successful,” said Korir.
Korir, who is
also the head of youth development at AK said registration is progressing well
and is expected to close sometime next week with few places remaining in
different categories.
“I am sure by
the end of next week we'll be coming to a close,” added Korir, noting that 50
slots had been reserved for elite athletes.
This years'
edition, a Gold Label event, is expected to be bigger and better according to
the organizers.
“This event will grow to be bigger and better every edition; so far we are impressed with the organization and we believe it will be one of the best in the world in the coming editions ,”stated the race organising committee chairperson.
The race is primed for Dec 7 in the scenic Chepsaita, Uasin Gishu County.
