Butula High eyeing rugby title at EA School Games in Uganda
Butula High School rugby head coach Shimenga Livondo says they
are ready to conquer East Africa in the upcoming school games, in Mbale -
Uganda.
In an interview with Citizen Digital, Shimenga said they have
put in the right training since April this year after the end of Term One
Games.
He therefore believes his side is ready for the competition that
will be taking place in Mbale - Uganda.
“We are 90 percent ready for the games; we never stopped
training after the national finals so you can imagine where we are. We have been
working hard to hit the level we believe is needed to reign supreme at the games,”
said Shimenga.
The former national champions lost 12-10 to national champions
All Saints of Embu in the national’s final, but Shimenga says they will bounce
back stronger.
“We are working on our line out our wracks and the set pieces
which I believe we have perfected on,” added Shimenga.
The Kenyan representatives are in the same group with defending
champions St. Mary’s Kisubi, Makerere and Kitondo.
Coach Shimenga has conceded they will need to be at their best
to cruise through the group.
“It is a tough pool with very good
teams; that is why we have to be perfect in all the departments and take one
game at a time. We have to get things right in every moment of the matches we
play, as I said a game at a time,” he stated.
The games will begin on the August 18 and conclude on August
27.
