Butere Girls sent a clear message of intent as they kicked off their Butere Sub-County Games campaign with a dominant 15-0 victory over St. Cecilia Lufumbo.

The defending KSSSA champions, who lifted last season’s title with a 2-0 win over Nyakach after dethroning Wiyeta Girls the previous year, wasted no time asserting their dominance in Pool A.

Forward Metrine Kitavi stole the spotlight, scoring five goals, including a blistering first-half hat-trick completed within 22 minutes. She continued her scoring spree in the second half to cap off a ruthless performance.

Faith Wasike added a quick-fire brace by the 10th minute, while Christine Farrine and Joy Angela also netted two goals each. Angela struck in the 20th and 27th minutes.

There was no shortage of drama as goalkeeper Christine Adhiambo stepped up to convert a penalty, securing Butere’s fifth goal.

St. Cecilia Lufumbo also conceded an own goal in the 24th minute, bringing the halftime score to 9-0.

The match was played in two 25-minute halves.

Butere will next face Masaba Secondary, followed by Bulanda Secondary in their final group match, as they aim to continue their pursuit of a third consecutive national title.
