Bungoma Queens are gearing up for the second-leg fixture of this season's FKF Women's Premier League against Kibera Soccer Women, set to take place this coming weekend.
The much-anticipated clash promises high-octane action, with Bungoma Queens’ head coach, Godfrey Mabonga, confident in his team’s preparation and progress since the first leg.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, Mabonga, who joined the club midway through the first leg, attributed their earlier loss to Kibera Soccer Women to his limited time with the squad at that point.
"I was new, and during that period, the players had not fully adapted to the transition. Now, we've had ample time to prepare, and I’m confident we will emerge victorious," he said in a pre-match interview.
Bungoma Queens have undergone intensive training sessions, with Mabonga highlighting notable improvements in both individual and team performance.
Additionally, injuries that previously hampered the squad have been resolved, with all players now fit and ready for the upcoming match.
"Our training has been excellent. The team is focused and determined to start the second leg strongly, and we’re ready to pick points on the road," he added.
Kibera Soccer Women, currently second on the league table with 22 points from 11 matches, will face a more cohesive and prepared Bungoma Queens side, who are third with 20 points from the same number of games. The close standings between the two teams set the stage for an electrifying encounter.
In other matches, Zetech Sparks will host Kisumu All-Starlets, while Kisped Queens will take on league leaders Kenya Police in what promises to be a tightly contested affair.
Trinity FC will travel to face Bunyore Starlets and Ulinzi Starlets are set to meet league giants Vihiga Queens in a matchup expected to draw significant attention.
