Bungoma Queens' coach attributes tactical shifts for triumph over Madira Assassins
Speaking to Citizen Digital, Machio highlighted that concerns over the team's offensive stability during their previous match against Bunyore prompted him to implement changes ahead of the weekend clash.
"Preparation was crucial as we anticipated a formidable opponent," Machio explained. "We specifically focused on enhancing our speed and endurance to match our competitors. Additionally, I made strategic changes to the lineup, particularly in the striking section, replacing players with injuries."
The coach further emphasized that the decision to incorporate four midfielders proved advantageous. This tactical shift effectively neutralized the opponent's strikers and provided greater control in the midfield.
"We were aware of their strong striker, so we implemented a marking strategy to limit her opportunities near the goal," Machio noted. "While their midfield was skilled, our four-player configuration allowed us to dominate that area."
Following the win, Bungoma Queens currently hold the eighth position in the league with 15 points from 15 matches. Madira Soccer Assassins trail closely behind in the tenth position with 13 points, also from 15 games.
