Bungoma Queens captain Centrine Simiyu leaves Kenya for Tanzanian giants Alliance FC
Bungoma
Queens captain, Centrine Nafula Simiyu, has made a
significant career move by joining Tanzanian side, Alliance FC, which takes
part in the country’s top-tier women’s football league.
This
transition marks a key milestone in Nafula's career as she embarks on a new
journey in the competitive Tanzanian league, where she
joins fellow countrymates including Jentrix Shikangwa and Ruth Ingosi of Simba Queens.
Nafula has been an instrumental figure for Bungoma Queens, with her leadership
on and off the pitch playing a vital role in the team's growth and success.
Speaking to
Citizen Digital, Bungoma Queens head coach, Robert
Machio, praised Nafula for her immense contribution to the club, noting that
she has been a pillar of strength from the early stages of their development in
the county league, to their promotion and success in the national women's league.
“Centrine has been a critical player for us,” stated Machio. “She has been
with the team through thick and thin, helping us build from the county league
all the way to competing at the national level. Her departure will leave a gap,
but we are proud to see her move on to bigger challenges.”
Despite the departure of their
captain, Bungoma Queens are not slowing down in their preparations for the
upcoming league season. Machio revealed that the team will be introducing new players during their
pre-season preparations.
“We are waiting for communication from the management to start our pre-season
schedule. We will be unveiling new signings as we prepare for the new season,” he averred.
Meanwhile, the departure of
Centrine Nafula undoubtedly leaves big shoes to fill, but according to Machio,
Queens remain determined to push forward and build on the foundation she helped
create.
