As the Kenya Secondary School Sports Association (KSSSA) National Term Two Games edge closer, Bungoma Boys High School has fired a warning shot to their opponents ahead of the rugby sevens competition slated for next week in Kakamega County.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, the team's head coach, Titus Wangila, has confidently stated that his team is ready to mount a strong challenge, determined to go all the way and lift the national title.

"I would like to assure our supporters that there is nothing to worry about, we have trained adequately, and there are no major injury concerns. The boys are ready to bring the national title home," Wangila stated.

Bungoma High had a promising journey through the early stages of the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association competitions.

The side finished as runners-up in the Bungoma County games, narrowly losing to champions St Mary's Kibabii High School.

They also lost the regional final to St. Peter's Mumias, a result that has only strengthened their resolve heading into the nationals.

Despite not clinching top positions at the county and regional levels, Wangila believes the team has matured and is ready to cause major upsets.

"The journey from the county level to the regionals to us was a learning curve; we had weaknesses in our different areas, such as the defence, but we are now eager to go," he added.

At the national championships, Bungoma will compete in a tough Pool B that features rugby powerhouses such as Musingu High School, Gede, and Laiser Hill Academy.

The group is expected to produce thrilling encounters, but Wangila maintains that his boys are prepared for the challenge.

The 2025 KSSSA nationals rugby 7s games have been structured into four pools. Pool A features Bwake, Kitondo, Nairobi School, and Marsabit Mixed. Pool B comprises Bungoma, Laiser Hill, Musingu, and Gede.

In Pool C, Yala will face off against Lenana, Mpesa Foundation, and Bishop Baldachino. Lastly, Pool D brings together Koyonzo, St. Peter's, Otieno Oyoo, and Alliance.
