The Kenya Roll Ball Federation (KRBF) has sent a bid to host this year’s Africa Junior Roll Ball tournament/World Cup Qualifiers set for December despite the country lacking the roll ball accredited arenas.

The KRBF co-chair Geoffrey Barasa says Kenya being the reigning world roll ball champions they hope their bid will be accepted despite the facility challenges.

He said they would be seeking an audience with Sports CS Ababu Namwamba to seek support as they await the outcome of their bid.

“We are hoping that we get the chance earlier promised, to meet with the sports minister and the president so that we can be able to discuss about the games and if we can have indoor arenas build before December but if we don’t succeed, we have Kasarani Indoor arena as our back up plan,” said Barasa.

He however called on the government to consider adding the number of international indoor arenas saying it is only Kasarani that might pass the International Roll Ball Federation (IRBF) set conditions.

Kenya’s bid comes months after the national teams reigned supreme in this year’s Roll Ball World Cup in Pune, India, where Kenya clinched both men and women titles despite both teams travelling late for the tournament due to delayed funds disbursement from the ministry.

“Our situation has remained the same even after bagging those two prestigious tournaments in India and though it is disappointing, we will keep representing the country as well as we can until the ministry realizes that we are doing something worth recognition,” added Barasa.
