Boost for KCB ladies as Chepchumba returns
In anticipation of the Africa Volleyball Club Championship, the KCB volleyball ladies' team is eagerly preparing for an electrifying showdown in Cairo, Egypt.
Following their fifth-place finish in last year's competition, KCB is determined to replicate their stellar performance from 2022 when they clinched the title.
With Coach Japheth Munala at the helm, the team is poised for success, bolstered by the return of Chepchumba after overcoming injury setbacks.
Coach Munala exudes confidence in Chepchumba's return, citing it as a significant boost to the team's morale and performance.
Having trained with the team for the past two weeks, Munala is optimistic about the impact Chepchumba's experience will have on the team dynamics.
“Sharon Chepchumba is a force to reckon with in Kenya, both Malkia strikers and the KCB team. For this championship she gives us strength and spirit to fight more. We are going to build our team around her playing and we are hopeful she is going to give us what we need to win this championship.”
Chepchumba herself is eager to reclaim her momentum on the court. Despite enduring injury setbacks, her optimism remains unwavering as she sets her sights on victory in Cairo.
“It feels so good to be back home, it has not been easy but I feel good coming back home. I believe that my coming back boosts the team’s energy and my personal development and we look forward to come back with a trophy because that is what we are going for.”
The team embarked on their journey this morning, poised for the competition scheduled to unfold from April 24 to May 5, 2024 and will wait to know their opponents in a draw to be conducted later this week.
