Blunt Bandari held by Shabana at Mbaraki
Shabana got their goal through Bran Michira while Joseph Onyango scored Bandari’s, to ensure a share of the spoils.
Shabana took the lead just 30 seconds into the match, with Michira capitalising on a mistake by Bandari’s Fidel Origa to fire a low shot past goalkeeper James Omusinde.
With the early goal, Shabana enjoyed the early spell of the match as the hosts fought hard to gather momentum before their fans.
Gradually, the Dockers found their rhythm, with William Gitama and Beja Nyamawi working tirelessly to level the score, but Shabana goalkeeper Maxwell Mulili was in superb form, denying them quick successive attempts.
Towards the end of the first half, Bandari’s defence looked exposed and made several mistakes, but Shabana failed to take advantage and extend their lead.
In the second half, Bandari FC made an early change, bringing on David Sakwa and Sharif Majabe to replace Brian Otieno and Wadri in an attempt to turn the game around.
Sakwa nearly equalised just two minutes into the second half with a 30-yard shot that sailed over the crossbar.
A minute later, Izzadin Juma’s 25-yard free kick was tipped over by Mulili.
Shabana had a chance to double their lead when Michira broke past goalkeeper Omusinde but failed to finish off the move into an empty net.
In the 72nd minute, substitute Onyango found the equaliser for Bandari after a quick exchange of passes with Siraj Mohammed inside the box.
Five minutes later, Majabe dribbled past two defenders and fired a hard shot, but an impressive Mulili denied, while Nyamawi’s follow-up rebound was flagged offside.
The draw extended Bandari FC’s winless streak to six matches, the Ken Odhiambo coached side appearing quite blunt in the attack in their recent outings.
After the game, Shabana FC Head Coach Peter Okidi expressed satisfaction with his players' performance.
"We started well and achieved our goal of scoring early, but we lost concentration later, which led to their equaliser. The weather was tough for the players, but we gave it our best," observed Okidi.
On the other hand, Bandari FC's Odhiambo was frustrated with his team’s inability to convert chances.
"We created opportunities, but we just could not capitalise on them. Football isn’t just about entertaining — it’s about results, so we need to score more goals," Odhiambo agonised.
Elsewhere, Sofapaka FC edged Posta Rangers 2-1, with Edward Omondi and Jack Ong'anya netting for Batoto ba Mungu while for Dinken Mwema got the consolation for then mail men.
Alfres Leku was the hero after scoring the only goal as Visitors Police FC overcame Murang’a SEAL 1-0, while Nairobi City Stars held KCB FC 1-1.
At the time of publishing this account, Champions Gor Mahia were one down to rivals Tusker FC, in the ongoing last match of the day.
Tusker’s goal was netted by Ryan Ogam, Premier League's top scorer so far.
