Beverline Adika bags hat-trick as Zetech Sparks electrocute Olympic

Beverline Adika was the star of the show Saturday afternoon bagging a treble of goals as Zetech Sparks hit Mombasa Olympic 3-2 to continue their fine form in the FKF Women’s Premier League in a match staged at the Makande Primary School, Mombasa County.

Grace Wekesa and Joy Ouma scored for the home side but it was Adika who ran the show in the afternoon.

Wekesa opened the scores for the host Mombasa Olympic in first minute of the match connecting Amina Amos’ cross home. Visitors Sparks equalised through Beverline Adika in 27th minute of the game, easing the mounting pressure for the visitors. The hosts then restored their lead in 37th minute, Joy Ouma looping over Zetech goalkeeper Vivian Awino after a splitter pass from midfielder Amina Amos, heading to the break leading 2-1.

Zetech restored parity two minutes into second half through Adika again, who this time collected a loose ball in 18yard area and slotted a low shot past Olympic goalkeeper Hellen Mykolwe.

10 minutes later, Beverline completed her hat-trick after going past 2 defenders and thumping a hard shot past a helpless Mukolwe in Mombasa goal.

Both teams were however reduced to 10 players after Martha Mejaa and Christine Awuor were sent off 10 minutes to end of the match after an alteration.

In a post-match interview, Joseph Oyoo, Mombasa Olympic head coach blamed her defense line for allowing ‘easy goals’ leading to another home loss.

"We scored early in the game but my defenders and goalkeeper didn't hold on leading to the loss but I believe there is a room for improvement,” he said.

His opposite number Jackson Tumaini was motivated by the win saying it will boost the morale of his charges. "I love the character portrayed by our girls, we were trailing by halftime but second half we dominated and eventually had our win.”
