Vihiga Queens coach Boniface Nyamuhnyamuh has warned his charges against resting on their laurels after an impressive start of the season, as they work to reclaim the FKF Women Premier League title this season.

The coach believes that the team can only get better, having seen a good start so far, as the new players continue settling in the squad.

The four-time KWPL champions rose to the third position on the log following their 3-1 win against Kisumu All Starlets on Sunday at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu.

With two matches in hand, Vihiga now have 14 points three behind the leaders Kibera Soccer Women while Bungoma Queens follows in second position with 16 points. 

The defending champions Police Bullets sit fourth with 14 points same with Vihiga but with inferior goals difference as Zetech Sparks wrap up top-five with 14 points.

Vihiga goals were scored by Yvone Muyoka, Faith Marende while own goals from Claudia Kadenge as Faith Atieno scored the consolation goal for All Starlets.

“I congratulate my girls for a good fight on Sunday against Kisumu. It was a tough match but they played according to my directives. The win it’s big motivation to us as we aim to clinch the title this season. I’m urging my girls to maintain the focus and ensure we win each match for the chance to fulfil our dream of winning the title.

"Now I’m happy the league is more competitive and only three points separate us from the leaders. It’s my hope that the new leadership in the Football Kenya Federation will continue to support women football to motivate more women to join the sport,” said coach Nyamuh in an interview with Citizen Digital.

Elsewhere, Police Bullets registered a 2-1 win against Bungoma Queens as Lydiah Akoth and Rebeccah Owaro emerging the scores, while Cathy scored the consolation goal for Bungoma at the Police Sacco Stadium.

Wadadia fell 04-0 in the hand of Kisped Queens as Coast based Mombasa lyrics pulled a 1-1 draw against newbies Trinity Starlets in Mombasa.

The Saturday fixture saw Ulinzi Starlets settling for a goalless draw against Kibera Soccer Women.
