Barcelona SC edge Bandari Queens in NSL

Jane Njeri and Calta Wanjala first half goals gave visitors the win while Cynthia Okwado delivered Bandari Queens a consolation.

Bandari Queens goalkeeper Akinyi Belinda was called into action in the tenth minute of the match, double saving efforts from Calta Wanjala and Jane Njeri to keep the home side into the match.

Jane Njeri opened the scoring for visitors Barcelona in the 27th minute of the match, tapping into an empty net after a loose ball from Naomi Nanjala.

A minute later, Bandari Queens fc winger Cynthia Okwado equalised for the home team after thumping a 25 yard shot after a splitter pass from midfielder Tacy Olembo.

2 minutes to the end of the first half, Calta Wanjala restored Barcelona lead after unleashing a 30 yard shot to beat Bandari Queens fc Belinda Akinyi.

Frustrated Bandari Queens fc pushed for equalizer in second half, efforts from substitute Irene Namale and Cynthia Okwado equally saved by Barcelona goalkeeper Sonia Ng'ang'a.

On stoppage time, Jane Njeri almost extended Barcelona lead, thumping a strong 18 yard shot that was saved by Bandari fc goalkeeper for a corner kick.

Bandari Queens coach head coach Janet Amuga speaking after the match said they were the better side but failed short on the chances they got.

"We have lost but am happy my players were outstanding, its hard luck, it was not our day but we could have won if we capitalize all our chances but we live to fight for another day"

On his side Barcelona SC tactician Emman Gullit was happy for the three points terming them crucial as they gain momentum of the new season.

"It was a hard game, the weather was not friendly also, Bandari were stronger but we managed to contain them and get a strong away win."
