Bandari Queens thrash Uweza Women in an NSL match
Bandari
Queens FC bounced back to winning ways edging out Uweza Women FC 5-1 in a Women
National Super League match played Saturday afternoon at Serani Sports Ground
in Mombasa.
Bandari
Queens got their goals through Happy Mutta and Saumu Mnyazi who both hit a
brace then Eve Chemutai made it five for the hosts. Yvonne Kidaha scored the
consoling goal for Uweza Women.
In an
ironic twist, it was the visitors who shook the net first through Vyonne Kidaha
in the 17th minute after a defensive line mix-up.
Bandari
Queens collected themselves quickly and equalised in 27th minut through their
top scorer Happy Muta who slotted in low and hard after Uweza Women defender Mildred
Kanyisi misplaced a pass. The hosts doubled their advantage through Eve
Chemutai in the 32nd minute, tapping into an empty net after winger Agnes Olesi
shot deflected off the side post.
Five minutes
before half time, Bandari Queens almost extended their lead but Kadzo Charo
shot deflected off the side post.
Happy
Mutta the got her second 18 minutes after the interval connecting a splitter
pass from Tacy Olembo to beat goalkeeper Rosline Adhiambo.
Saumu
Mnyazi the made it four for the hosts
with 14 minutes to go before Saumu
Mnyazi wrapped up the win two minutes to
the end of the game.
Speaking
after the match Bandari Queens coach Janet Amunga praised her side for
dominating the game.
"Today
we played our hearts out and I’m happy we scored many goals and now focus shifts
to our final first leg game.”
On his
part, Charles Kahindi, Uweza Women FC tactician cited lack of concentration for
the embarrassing defeat.
"We
started the game well but my girls lost concentration and communication- that
led to the heavy loss.”
The NSL women league takes a 3 weeks break Christmas break, and is scheduled to resume early January.
