Bandari, Leopards win as season gets underway
Bandari FC opened their FKF Premier League season in winning fashion after edging Sofapaka 1-0 thanks to Hassan Abdallah’s first half strike.
The effect of missing close to nine months of competitive football was on full display with both sides looked rusty, wasting loads of chances in front of goal.
Abdallah broke the stalemate in the 20th minute when he unleashed a powerful shot past Wazito FC goalkeeper Omondi Kevin after a counter attack initiated by Bandari goalkeeper Justin Ndikumana.
Despite the loss, Sofapaka will take positives from the displays of new signings Lawrence Juma and Michael Karamor who were outstanding.
At the Kasarani Stadium, goals from captain Robinson Kamura and Elvis Rupia were enough to hand AFC Leopards a 2-1 win over Tusker FC who had taken an early lead courtesy of David Majak.
