Bandari FC management urges team to bring home silverware this season

Bandari FC’s management has called on the players and technical staff to focus on clinching silverware this season. This directive was issued during an Iftar dinner last night, during which Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) Managing Director William Ruto, who also serves as the club’s Patron, reaffirmed the club’s commitment to supporting the team in achieving its ambitions.

The gathering, held near Mbaraki Stadium, brought together representatives from all Bandari teams, including Bandari Kids (for players under 15), Bandari Youth, Bandari Queens, and the main Bandari FC team.

Ruto highlighted the club’s unwavering support,  urging the players to give their best in pursuit of a title.

"I’ve spoken with the officials and the technical bench, and it’s time to embark on the journey to silverware," Ruto stated. "We are fully committed to supporting this team in its drive to reach new heights."

He also expressed satisfaction with the progress made under the current leadership. "I’m proud of the work that’s been done. When we took over, things were not looking great, but through collective effort, the team is now stable and poised for even greater achievements," he added.

Bandari FC CEO Tony Kibwana and Deputy Chairman Twaha Mbarak echoed these sentiments, encouraging the players to kick off their silverware journey with a victory against Ulinzi Stars in the upcoming Kenyan Premier League (KPL) match on Saturday at home.

"We’re aiming to improve our standing by the end of the season and hopefully bring home silverware. The Iftar gathering serves as extra motivation as we look ahead to the Ulinzi match," Kibwana noted.

"With the senior team performing well so far, I’m confident that with more effort, we can secure a trophy, especially in the Mozart Cup quarterfinals against Gor Mahia. That match is a must-win as we push toward glory," Vice Chairman Twaha Mbarak added.

Kibwana also praised the progress of all Bandari teams, with Bandari Queens on the brink of qualifying for the Women’s Kenyan Premier League (WKPL) and Bandari Youth currently holding second place in the FKF Division 2 league.

To further support the team's development, the club is in the process of acquiring a new bus to reduce travel costs, a move Captain Ruto confirmed will be implemented soon.

"We’re committed to providing the team with the infrastructure needed to succeed, including the addition of a new bus. It’s vital that we continue to build a unique identity for the club," he said.

KPA fully sponsors Bandari FC, providing them with a stadium and dedicated facilities for both the men’s and women’s teams, including the prestigious "Clubhouse."

Currently, Bandari FC is in 9th place with 33 points, trailing league leaders Police FC by 12 points. Their best chance of securing a title this season lies in the ongoing League Cup, where they will face football powerhouse Gor Mahia in the quarterfinals at Mbaraki Stadium.
