Bandari drown Murangá Seals in the deep sea as Shabana wallop Sofapaka
Shabana FC picked their biggest win since their promotion to the FKF Premier League walloping a helpless Sofapaka 4- 1 at the Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay County while Coast-based side Bandari were also in good form picking maximum points at home at the Mbaraki Sports Club after edging Murangá Seal 2-0. In Nairobi, Kenya Police went down 1-2 to Kenya Commercial Bank Football Club.
At the Mbaraki Sports Club Bandari had to
rely on two Ugandan strikers William Wadri and Umar Kasumba to score in each
side of the half to seal the win.
Bandari were the better side in the first
five minutes of the match, winning six corners but failing to convert any of
those.
Murang'a Seal goalkeeper Wilson Mwangi had
a standout game in the first half making important saves to keep the visitors
in the game, at least until that time.
In 31st minute, Robert Onyango’s 30-yard
shot deflected off the bar but watched in agony thereafter as he had to make
way for William Wadri after picking up an injury.
Bandari's pressing game paid off in
stoppage time of the first half, William Wadri heading into the net a James
Kinyanjui cross.
Murang'a had only one shot on target in the
first half through Samuel Semo’s free kick whose effort was calmly saved by
Bandari goalkeeper Joseph Ochuka.
Half
time advantage
Upon resumption, the home side almost
doubled their lead when Seals’ captain Robert Mudenyu made a poor clearance that
almost went into his own net.
Visitors Seals were then forced to make a
double change introducing Juma Lusaka and Titus Kapchanga to calm the ever pressing
Bandari but to no avail.
