Bandari coach Odhiambo confident of title prospects
Bandari FC head coach Ken Odhiambo is optimistic about his team’s chances in the Kenya Premier League title race, following their third consecutive win on Sunday against Sofapaka FC at Mbaraki Stadium.
In an
interview with Citizen Digital, Odhiambo
expressed confidence that the team is steadily returning to its best form.
"You
can’t rule out any team from the title race," he said. "With 14
matches remaining, anything can happen."
He at
the same time acknowledged the pressure that comes with both winning and
losing, stating, "Our three consecutive victories are a result of staying
composed and believing in our game plan. But this is not the end; we will keep
pushing to do our best."
While
Bandari FC have been active in the mid-season transfer window, they have yet to
announce any new signings. However, several notable players, including John
Mark Makwatta and Abdallah Hassan from Coastal Heroes of Tanzania, Ali Halafu
from Congo Boyz, and Dennis Ng'ang'a, formerly of Zanaco and Gor Mahia, have
all been linked with the club.
Coach
Ken hinted at more reinforcement for the squad. "I’m happy that the
transfer window is open, and we’re focused on strengthening the team. When we
make substitutions, we want to ensure we have depth," he explained.
"Our main issue has been scoring goals, and you’ll see new strikers coming
in soon."
He also
expressed confidence in the progress of striker Alfred Emoni Tanui, despite
early criticism.
"Many
people doubted our decision to sign Tanui, but if you look at our last three
matches, he has shown his value. Soon, he will be a key player in our
squad."
Currently,
Bandari FC sit fifth in the KPL standings with 32 points, six points behind
league leaders Police FC.
