Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has revealed reasons why he will not be removing his helmet any time soon, despite his willingness to do so.

In a statement on the Mirror, Cech said he is ready to get rid of the helmet but has been advised against doing so by his doctor due to insurance reasons.

The former Chelsea keeper has been using the helmet since 2006 after he fractured his skull in Chelsea’s match against Reading.

The 33-year-old stated that the helmet has been affecting his hearing capabilities but will stay on with the protective gear.

“Removing the mask would be very helpful for me because it affects my hearing capabilities,” he said.

“The doctor has however advised me against removing it since It would affect my insurance arrangements.”

Chelsea’s performance

The Czech Republic international further expressed his concerns over his former club Chelsea’s shaky start to the season saying the turn of events are shocking.

“It is very surprising that Chelsea who won the league six month ago are experiencing dismal performance,” he said.

“This should not be the case because they have the same coach and even bought new players during the summer. The situation is a little worrying.”

Petr Cech who move to Arsenal from Chelsea last summer after nine years at Stamford Bridge has helped steer the Gunners to second in the log with 26 points, same points as league leaders Manchester City, while Chelsea lie 16th.
