Africa Nazarene University (ANU Panthers) basketball team
head coach Michael Oluoch reckons his team is yet to gain rhythm since the
start of the women’s basketball league season.
The students haven’t won any game so far even as they lost
34-51 to fellow varsity side USIU Flames over the weekend at the Nyayo
Gymnasium, Nairobi.
“We played badly, our finishing is poor, and we are missing
a lot. Execution is our biggest undoing, if you look at the way we played you
will find that we do everything right but the execution part becomes a very big
problem for us. We are even losing under the rim, when we are alone and that made
us lose games,” Oluoch said.
Despite the poor run, Oluoch is optimistic that his team
will rise and show what they are made of.
“We are working on
our mistakes and we hope our next game we will improve on that. Generally we
have corrected the mistakes that we had and the only part that is remaining is
the finishing part under the rim which is a really big concern for me and how
we can make it better,” Oluoch added.
In their weekend match against USIU Flames, Panthers got the
going too hot to handle losing in all but the last quarter where they
registered a 10-10 tie.
