Trinity Starlets head coach James Angila has blamed defensive errors for his team’s 3-0 loss to Kenya Police in their FKF Women’s Premier League clash last weekend.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Angila singled out his right-back defenders for criticism, accusing them of sluggishness that allowed their opponents to exploit easy chances.

“The defensive lapses, especially on the right flank, were costly,” Angila lamented. “Our defenders lacked the sharpness and awareness needed to handle the pressure from Kenya Police’s attackers.”

The defeat was a frustrating outing for the Starlets, who struggled to counter Kenya Police’s aggressive play. While the midfield showed moments of brilliance and the attack had flashes of creativity, the team’s inability to convert opportunities deepened their woes.

Despite the loss, Angila expressed optimism about the team’s potential, emphasizing the need to learn from the setback and quickly address their shortcomings ahead of their next fixture.

“We have identified the problem, and now it’s time to work on the solution,” Angila asserted. “Our focus will be on strengthening the defence and ensuring our attackers capitalize on their chances.”

The coach also described the defeat as a wake-up call for the entire squad, urging them to rise to the occasion in upcoming matches.

The victory saw Kenya Police Bullets climb to second place in the league standings with 21 points from 10 matches, while Trinity Starlets dropped to seventh place with 15 points from 11 games this season.
