Ambani outlines his ambitious plan if elected AFC Leopards Chairman
The former Kenyan international who also featured for the Tanzanian giants Yanga SC says time is ripe for him to take over the mantle and spearhead the 12-time league champions back to the lost glory.
“Very early in the morning I will be vying for the AFC Leopards Chairman seat. Anyone who is interested can tell him/her to start preparing very early- to be defeated- for the elections.
“I have confidence and I will not relent on this mission. When I want something I go for it with my heart and it is not trial and error," Ambani told Citizen Digital.
Kenyan football has by far been dominated by Leopards perennial rival Gor Mahia who have now hit a record 21- league titles leaving the blue and white team with only 12 titles, one behind Tusker FC.
Ingwe have failed to give their fans reasons to smile following a 26-year league title drought.
But Ambani has promised he has a clear plan and structures to inject into the team to enable them to start dominating Kenyan football again.
Leopards are currently under the leadership of chairman Dan Shikanda, Secretary General Gilbert Andugu and Treasurer Oliver Napali and their term is expected to end next year in June.
Shikanda successfully defended his seat by defeating the only opponent in Ronald Namai in the tightly contested elections held in 2022.
“By the time I say 'now guys it’s enough for me with AFC Leopards', I can assure you that the person who will take over will get good structures laid down to run the club in an official and professional manner.”
Leopards currently lie seventh in the league standings under interim head coach Fred Ambani and assistant Kenneth Wendo following the last week’s sacking of Czech Republic coach Tomas Trucha due to poor results.
