The Boxing Federation of Kenya (BFK) will hold its grassroots
elections this Saturday, with five counties set to elect new officials who will
steer the sport for the next four years.
The elections will take place in Nairobi, Mombasa, Nakuru,
Laikipia, and Kisumu, where county boxing associations will decide their
leadership.
In Kisumu, BFK President Anthony Otieno Ombok, popularly known
as Jamal, will be seeking re-election as County Chairman, with expectations of
a decisive victory.
A heated contest is anticipated in Nakuru, where BFK 1st Vice
President Isaac Mbote will face off against Martin Luther of Sombea Boxing Club
for the county chairman position.
Meanwhile, BFK National Treasurer Musa Benjamin will be
defending his Nairobi County Secretary-General seat.
On the national front, BFK’s general elections are set for March
1, 2025, at Kasarani Stadium. The polls were initially scheduled for last year
but were delayed due to challenges in club registration, which have since been
resolved.
