As the CECAFA U-18 Championship final goes down in Kisumu on Friday afternoon, Eldama Ravine MP Musa Sirma has ferried 300 youths to the match in honour of their fellow constituent; Junior Stars sensation Aldrine Kibet.

Kibet, former captain of Poror Mote of Eldama Ravine, has been a key member of the Kenyan side, which takes on Uganda at the Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium from 2:30pm EAT.

David Chebor who is the FKF Secretary for Koibatek sub-branch, Kipkemoi Kosoboi and Sheilla Jepkemoi said they left Eldama Ravine at 1:00am with only one mission, to cheer on Kibet and his teammates as they lock horns with Uganda.

"Excitement is in the air as we eagerly await the CECAFA Under-18 final!  Sending all the best to Team Kenya!  Let's show our support and unity," said Chebor.

Kibet's siblings and parents; Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Komen were among the over 300 fans from Eldama Ravine who arrived in Kisumu Friday morning ahead of the showdown.

"We selected 10 players, fans and officials from 32 football teams to represent the larger community where Kibet hails from. We needed four buses plus four small vehicles and we could not sleep ahead of this big day, that's why we are at the stadium this early," an ecstatic Chebor said.

On his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Eldama Ravine MP Musa Sirma wrote: "In the spirit of  sportsmanship, I'm thrilled to announce that I have sponsored 300  youths from Eldama Ravine Constituency to witness the excitement live in Kisumu!"

Kibet, 17, is the Kenya National Secondary Schools Most Valuable Player 2023, and joined Spanish Nastic Academy on scholarship after the East African School Games in Huye, Rwanda.
