Aketch rues financial woes for Bunyore Starlets' weekend loss
Bunyore Starlets head coach
Nick Aketch has cited logistical challenges for their away loss to Trinity Starlets
FC last weekend in their Kenya Women Premier League opener in Nakuru.
Aketch says his players
had little time to prepare for the game, having traveled on the same day to
Nakuru hungry, and this played a part to their defeat.
"We traveled from
Luanda to Nakuru the very day of the match and only had three hours to prepare
for the contest against Trinity Starlets, where we fell 3-0 to the host,"
Aketch said.
Aketch, who joined Starlets
as part of an overhaul of the playing unit ahead of the new season, says his
players were a starving lot despite the heavy task that was ahead of them.
"Our challenge
was majorly logistical, which is in the docket of our management.
“I don't blame the
office, for they worked round the clock to ensure that Bunyore Starlets honored
their first fixture," Sketch said, urging local soccer governing body Football
Kenya Federation (FKF) to source for sponsorships and partnerships in a bid to
facilitate the participation of community clubs in the topflight.
Despite the weekend
loss, Aketch has tipped his side to do well this term if their problems are
solved early.
"Kenya Police
Bullets must know that this is not the Bunyore Starlets they beat 3-0 in the
KWPL final last season," he stated.
Unlike Bunyore
Starlets, who lost their first match, KWPL defending champions Kenya Police
Bullets FC secured a 3-0 victory against Kisped Kenya.
