A win for Agoro Sare as Kisumu Day’s appeal is quashed
Agoro Sare High School football team will now represent the
Nyanza region in the Kenya Secondary school games slated for August in Kakamega
This comes after Kisumu
Day’s appeal to block Agoro Sare from participating in the national was quashed
by the Regional Sports Disputes Committee.
Kisumu Day had appealed
Agoro Sare’s win on claims that they field an ineligible player during their
final match.
According to Kisumu Day,
Agoro Sare had fielded a player who was part of the Dagoretti High School team
that participated in last year’s school games while in Form Three.
The committee, however,
dismissed the case, accusing Kisumu Day of presenting falsified documents
before them.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, Nyanza region Kenya Secondary Schools Sports
Association secretary Thomas Odhiambo said Kisumu Day’s Team manager Booker
Odhiambo had no evidence to overturn Agoro Sare’s win.
“There is no evidence to
prove that the said student is from Dagoretti as claimed by Booker. According
to UPI, the said student came from Usenge High School before moving to Agoro
Sare High School.
“The documents presented by
Booker are all falsified, they are not even authenticated by the principal of
Dagoretti,” noted Odhiambo.
Booker was, however,
unsatisfied by the committee’s decision and has intent on taking another step
after their appeal failed.
“I have accepted the
verdict, down but not yet out. There is a plan B,” Booker said.
Agoro Sare thumped
Kisumu Day after a 7-6 win in post-match penalties after a 1-1 extra-time draw.
The final was a repeat of last year where Agoro Sare lost 2-0 to the Kisumu-based side, and it was their perfect timing for revenge this year.
