Aganyo rues missed chance in UON loss

GHF Pirates' team manager, Dennis Aganyo, lamented wasted opportunities as the pivotal factor behind his team's weekend defeat against the University of Nairobi in the National Hockey League.

The Pirates succumbed to a 2-0 loss at the Impala grounds on Sunday, courtesy of two goals from Brian Shimotwo in the 3rd and 59th minutes, respectively.

In an interview with Citizen Digital, Aganyo expressed disappointment at his team's inability to capitalize on scoring opportunities and commended the tactical prowess of their opponents.

"We paid dearly for squandering our chances unlike our opponents, who capitalized on theirs," Aganyo emphasized.

Despite the setback, the former University of Nairobi captain remains hopeful about his team's playoff prospects.

"The league campaign is far from over; we still have two matches remaining. The players must shake off this defeat and concentrate on the upcoming games if we aim to secure a playoff spot," he remarked.

Currently occupying the 5th position in the league standings, the Nakuru-based outfit will host Daystar University in a week as they strive to solidify their playoff aspirations.
