AFC Leopards are intensifying their preparations toward the June 29 elections with the electoral board set to be formed early next week, the club’s Secretary General Gilbert Andugu said on Thursday.

The outgoing SG has also announced that Ingwe will set up a special team to go review the corporate proposals that will inform the transition from a community club to a corporate entity.

“As AFC Leopards I want to say that we have put in place preparations ahead of the June 29 elections. We are working on the electoral board and people should be ready for the exercise,” said Andugu.

Andugu assured the club’s stakeholders that they are expected to have the electoral board latest by next week.

“As early as next week we should be announcing the formation of the board. The board must strictly be independent so as to avoid manipulation or arm-twisting of the results”, he added.

The corporate proposals from the Corporate Taskforce did not get majority backing in the Saturday’s AGM which has forced the club to retreat to review the amendments before absorption.

“We have proposals from the corporate, delegates and members. We are going to come up with a team from members as well as from our legal team to be able to go through those amendments before finalizing them. After the exercise we will return to the members with finer details and initiate the constitution amendment.”

Among those who have declared interest to vie for the Leopards top seat are former player Boniface Ambani, former Chief Executive Officer Ronald Namai, former marketing director Enos Mutoka, U45 branch Chairman Olympia Musonye and the current treasurer Oliver Napali.

The current office under Chairman Dan Shikanda and SG Gilbert Andugu is set to vacate the office immediately after the elections since no one among them is interested to defend their seat save for Napali who will be looking to upgrade his position to the Chairman.
