AFC Leopards cage several experienced players in readiness for next season

AFC Leopards have signed striker Sydney Okale and attacking midfielder Julius Masaba from Kariobangi Sharks in readiness for the new season.

Okale has put pen to paper on a one-year contract, while utility player Masaba inked a two-year deal set to tie him to the club until July 2026, Leopards Secretary General Gilbert Andugu confirmed.

“We are beefing up the squad. So far, we have signed Sydney Okale and Julius Masaba both from Kariobangi Sharks. That now means we have a new striker in the name of Okale and an attacking midfielder Julius Masaba,” said Andugu.

Ingwe are also finalizing a deal with Murang’a Seal to rope in left-wing full back Samuel Semo, while goalkeeper Sebastien Wekesa is set to join from Sharks to replace Maxwell Mulili.

The 12-time FKF Premier League champions have resumed pre-season at the Jamhuri Grounds, and are set to leave for Mumias where they will pitch camp ahead of the 2024/25 season in August.

“As we are talking right now the team is training at Jamhuri grounds. And then we will leave for a minimum 10-days camp in Mumias,” Andungu stated.

“It is nice to have the players get to feel a completely different environment outside Nairobi and then we will have them back a few days before the new season kicks off,” he added.

According to Andugu, Ingwe have targeted to conquer the league next season by having a good pre-season.

“We have put down a sober plan for a better pre-season which is hopefully going to enable the coaching staff under the tutelage of Tomas Trucha to get the best out the players so as to have a fruitful season. We are targeting a top finish which is to win the league.

Leopards finished in fifth position on the FKF Premier League log last season with 51, a whopping 24 points behind champions and perennial rivals Gor Mahia.
