Zetech Sparks Head Coach Maurice
Obilo is aware of the huge task in the national women’s premier league when
they play three consecutive matches this weekend.
The students will be playing Stanbic
Aces this Friday at Nyayo Gymnasium before facing Eldonets and Strathmore
Swords on Saturday and Sunday respectively at Ulinzi Sports Complex, Nairobi.
“Preparations were good, all the
three games are important, we know all the three teams are not easy but
we are up to the task, we take one game at a time, we will come up, give it our
best at all levels,” Obilo said.
Zetech have so far have 34 points
after playing 18 games, winning 16 and losing two only with four games to go in the regular league.
Elsewhere, Strathmore Blades head
Tony Ochieng admits it won’t be an easy weekend for them as they fight to
retain their status in the league.
The students play NBK Phoenix this
Friday before playing fellow varsity side UON Terror tomorrow at Nyayo
Gymnasium.
“They will be tough games,
considering we have three options on the table; either we are in the playoffs,
out of playoff or get demoted. These are the three parameters that the games
have effect on.
We want to build from our last match
and we take one game at a time, play some good defense, have some good court
efficiency including individual efficiency,” Ochieng said.
At the same time Ochieng is impressed
with his boys’ performance last weekend as he looks forward to improving on it.
“My boys are ready for the games,
they know what it takes. We want to improve on our play efficiency especially
on our offense which has been becoming better and better.
In the last five games, the defense
has been doing well too with good rebounding, we have controlled the boards and
controlled most of the areas we need to work on. I am glad we have depth, the
players who came from the developmental side are doing quite well and we hope
for a better weekend,” Ochieng added.
Strathmore Blades so far have 26
points having played 19 games, winning seven and losing 12.
