Action galore as basketball league action resumes
The two sides lock horns at Nyayo Gymnasium from 6PM with the soft-spoken tactician confident enough with his boys’ preparations
“It’s a big tough side but after the long break, training has been good, we have a healthy side, all the players are in good shape and we are always trying to improve each and every day after every training session. I know the boys will play well and we are going to come up with a win,” said Mufutu.
Before facing Ulinzi on Sunday, Umoja will have another uphill task on Friday as they face another heavyweight Equity Dumas at the same venue.
Elsewhere, Strathmore Blades head coach Tony Ochieng believes they give a good show when they face newbie in the league NBK Phoenix on Saturday saying they are a worthy opponent especially after they defeated giants Kenya Ports Authority.
“We have just reopened school and we have been working very hard. We have been combining team chemistry and fitness at the same time.
We just want to start a new year by winning, we are ready as we are working on our mentality hoping this weekend we are going to get the first win of the season; the boys are psyched up and looking forward to the game,” Ochieng said.
At the same time, Ochieng gas raised concerns over the growing list of injured players.
“My team has been affected with a lot of injuries, apparently three players are on surgeries; one is also expected to go on operation and all of them are my key players who play with the national team,” he added.
