3K FC seek to avoid losing further ground in NSL title race

3K FC versus Mombasa United

3K FC assistant coach Moses Munene says they are keen to avoid losing further ground in the National Super League (NSL) title race following their recent slump.

The Embu-based side are having a dream start to the second-tier league in their first time of asking, but are winless in the last three matches.

They face strugglers Nzoia Sugar on Sunday and are seventh in the table – four points off top spot.

“We know Nzoia is a team with Premier League experience, but we’ve put measures in place to compete effectively. We’re ready for the challenge,” said Munene.

Despite brimming with confidence, Munene acknowledged a significant challenge that has been plaguing his squad—inefficiency in front of goal.

He criticized his forwards for failing to convert chances in recent matches, a problem that he says has been their biggest undoing.

“Our biggest issue has been scoring. The forwards need to step up and take responsibility. We create chances but fail to finish them, and that’s costing us games. The defence department is doing very well and so we need to check the other side. 3K has conceded very few goals so far in the league,” he added.

Their Sunday's fixture comes after a narrow 1-0 away defeat to Migori Youth last weekend.

Nzoia Sugar FC are placed 16th in the NSL standings with 12 points out of 12 matches.
