Scheduled for Friday, July 25 to Sunday, July 27, the two-day rugby fiesta will feature Kenya’s top sevens clubs in what promises to be an explosive start to the season.
Mombasa’s Driftwood 7s has long been a fan favourite thanks to its vibrant coastal atmosphere, competitive rugby, and lively off-field entertainment.
Last year, the event recorded a historic turnout with tickets selling out completely, as fans filled the venue to enjoy world-class rugby action.
This year, organisers have retained the popular ticketing model, with regular tickets going for KES 800 and VIP tickets priced at KES 3,000.
The entertainment lineup promises to keep fans entertained throughout, with music, live DJs, and food courts adding to the carnival-like vibe.
Friday will kick off with the Age Grade Tournament, featuring 26 junior teams in the U13, U15, and U18 categories for both boys and girls.
Entry will be free of charge on the first day to allow fans to cheer on the next generation of rugby stars in a full day of youth action.
On Saturday, the senior sides take centre stage. Defending champions Kenya Harlequin headline Pool A alongside MMUST, Blak Blad, and Mwamba RFC. Kabras RFC, who reached the semis in 2024, are pooled with Catholic Monks, Nakuru RFC, and a resurgent Impala RFC in Pool B.
Pool C features last year’s runners-up KCB Rugby, who are drawn against Nondies, Daystar Falcons, and hosts Mombasa RFC, who will be banking on home support to spark a strong performance.
Pool D sees 2022 series champions Menengai Oilers grouped with Strathmore Leos, Stallions, and Kabarak University in what is expected to be a hotly contested pool.
With a blend of elite rugby, rising youth talent, and unmatched coastal hospitality, the 2025 Driftwood 7s promises an unforgettable weekend. As anticipation builds, all eyes now turn to Mombasa as the sevens action kicks off in style.
