On my kicker tonight, National Treasury Kenya Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi has just made a groundbreaking discovery; a great treasure whose discovery he announced at the National Treasury boardroom. Hint hint... the treasure has three letters.

For those who were unclear about the ethnic origins of the Treasury CS, now you know. And if for whatever reason you thought Mbadi was Suba, you stand corrected. Let's go back to the Treasury boardroom.

My fact-check on that; largely true. Yes, it is a fact that for intermittent episodes between 1966 and 2026, members of the Luo community have experienced particular suffering... in fact the first Suba or Luo to run Treasury was the legendary Tom Mboya. Tom Mboya was gunned down in broad daylight on the streets of Nairobi, marking the absolute turning point in the systematic marginalization of the Luo community. This is a fact.

Away from last weekend's tragic events in Kitengela, CS Mbadi who by the way was meeting elders from the Luo Council of Elders, is looking ahead with a solid plan for his three-letter word treasure...

Now that is for Nairobi... and hang on; there is a plan for the countryside...

As for choice of the party, a small reminder that Orange Democratic Movement is also a three letter word...

Wow! Impressive stuff CS! For the 8 minutes he spoke, CS John Mbadi mentioned the word Luo sixteen times. That gives us the rate of two times per minute. The word 'community' - 18 times... the context of all this is the 2027 elections and related mobilization.

Now, this is all well. Tribe is something to be proud of. And indeed I am just following this as a proud Maasai and I can't help wondering, what can John Mbadi Ng'ong'o tell Rigathi Gachagua?

Somebody give them a boat!

Iko shida manyatta! That is my kicker
