Women who kidnapped 2 children, demanded Ksh.1M ransom now seek plea bargain with mother

The duo, Susan Njogi, a former beauty college student and Lucy Ndeda, aged 22 and 23 years respectively appealed to the Presiding Magistrate Nancy Barasa to slap them with lenient sentences now that they have pleaded guilty to the charge.
They are accused of kidnapping three-year-old girl MN and her ten-year-old sister DW, contrary to Section 255 as read with Section 257 of the Penal Code.
The accused persons are said to have kidnapped the children before demanding a ransom of Ksh.1 million from their mother GN in exchange for the victim's freedom.
They are said to have committed the said offence on May 27, 2024 at Eldoret West area in Turbo, Uasin Gishu county.
They also face another charge of demanding Ksh. 1 million with menace from the victims’ mother by threatening to sell the children if she fails to send the said money to them.
They both denied the offence and are out on a Ksh. 300,000 bond each.
The kidnapped children's mother had left them at the compound of her house to play as she went to a nearby shop only to find them missing when she returned back.
She reported the matter to the police and a man-hunt was launched leading to the arrest of the accused persons who were found with the children at their hide-out within Eldoret town City.
The matter will come up on April 28, 2025 when the court is expected to receive the accused person's report from the probation officer.
