Windsor Brokers launches free data service for Kenyan traders

Global investment firm Windsor Brokers has introduced a free data service for its clients in Kenya, allowing active traders to access daily internet data without cost.

The initiative aims to reduce the cost of trading and increase access to global financial markets, making it a notable development in Kenya’s online trading sector.

Windsor Brokers clients using the MetaTrader 4 (MT4) mobile platform can now place trades without worrying about internet costs, even after their personal data plan is depleted. The service is available exclusively to Safaricom subscribers in Kenya, ensuring that traders have uninterrupted access to market opportunities, regardless of their location.

Martin Ngugi, Chief Executive Officer of Windsor Brokers Kenya, said the free data service is part of a broader effort to improve the trading experience for Kenyan clients.

“At Windsor Brokers, we believe that financial inclusion is a cornerstone of economic development,” said Ngugi.

He explained that the initiative seeks to address a common issue faced by traders in Kenya: the inability to capitalize on market opportunities when their mobile data runs out.

"We developed this solution to empower the Kenyan youth, who make up more than 80% of the population. They are tech-savvy and continuously look for alternative investment opportunities. Our goal is to ensure local traders have uninterrupted access to our mobile trading platform so they can make informed decisions, respond promptly to market changes, and optimize their strategies directly from their mobile phones,” added Ngugi.

The introduction of this service reflects the growing role of fintech in Kenya’s economy with contribution to the country’s GDP rising from 2.5% in 2015 to 6% in 2023, driven by increased smartphone adoption, affordable internet access, and rising financial literacy.
