Willis Ayieko memorial service held in Nairobi ahead of Saturday burial
The
family of slain Wells Fargo security company Human Resource Manager Willis
Ayieko Onyango is demanding justice following the mysterious death of their kin
whose mutilated body was found dumped in a stream in Gem, Siaya County.
During
an emotional funeral service held at the All Saints Cathedral on Thursday
afternoon, family, friends and relatives poured glowing tributes to a man whose
light they said was dimmed too soon.
Ayieko
was also eulogised as a man of style who appreciated the growth of those close
to him.
Leaders
who joined mourners for the solemn service used the platform to demand for
justice following his mysterious death.
According
to the family, his body will be flown from Nairobi on Friday ahead of his
burial at his Ong’iende home at Central Alego location in Siaya County on
Saturday.
This
will happen as detectives continue hunting for more suspects in connection to
the gruesome murder.
This
comes after the latest suspect arrested in connection with Ayieko’s murder is
being held in police custody for 30 more days.
The
21-year-old Charles Otieno Odhiambo was on Wednesday arraigned before Siaya
Magistrate Margaret Wamabani who granted the prosecution 30 days pending the
conclusion of investigations.
Odhiambo,
who is a boda boda operator, was arrested by police in Kisumu after he was
linked to the suspects who are believed to have executed the gruesome murder.
The
prosecution, led by Evans Soita, requested the Magistrate’s Court to allow them
to hold the suspect as the police and the Directorate of Criminal
Investigations (DCI) continue with the probe.
Magistrate
Wambani granted the prayers and ordered that the suspect, who is the fifth in
the murder case, be remanded at the Railway Police Station in Kisumu.
She
subsequently directed that the suspect be subjected to a mental assessment
test, adding that the investigating officers are also granted an opportunity to
conduct a forensic examination on his two mobile phones.
