William Kisang declared UDA candidate for Elgeyo Marakwet by-election
Kisang received a nomination certificate to contest for the seat in the upcoming by-election that will be held on January 5, 2023.
The former Marakwet West MP garnered 28,136 votes in the party primaries that were conducted on Saturday, November 26.
Kisang will contest for the Senatorial position that fell vacant after Kipchumba Murkomen was appointed Roads, Transport and Infrastructure Cabinet Secretary by President William Ruto.
Murkomen has since congratulated Kisang for emerging winner after vigorous, intense and lively campaigns.
“Congratulations Hon. William Kisang on your nomination as the UDA flag bearer for the upcoming Senatorial by-elections in Elgeyo Marakwet County. Congratulations also to all the other candidates who put up a spirited fight and performed exemplarily,” he wrote in a tweet.
“Let’s now move forward together as one indivisible family knowing that competition makes us strong together as it prepares us for service in our various capacities and different duty stations,” the CS added.
On Saturday, UDA also conducted party primaries in Kandara Constituency, where Chege Njuguna was declared the flagbearer in the upcoming Parliamentary by-election.
Njuguna seeks to fill the position that was left vacant after Alice Wahome was appointed as Cabinet Secretary for Water and Sanitation.
