West Mugirango MP faults his predecessor for turning down ambassadorial job
Speaking outside Parliament buildings on Tuesday, Mogaka said it was sad that Kemosi had declined the nomination, failing to appear in parliament for vetting.
Mogaka said the refusal to take up the job was a blow to the people of West Mugirango Constituency, who would benefit from the appointment.
"I'm issuing this statement to apologise to the president of the republic because Parliament was not the appointing authority to which a letter should have been written. It should have been written to the appointing authority well in advance," Mogaka said.
The MP further urged his predecessor to reconsider the decision he had made and take up the appointment.
"Not doing so is jeopardising the position I was counting for my constituency, because the basket of wealth and basket of income from the exchequer that was going to trickle down to my constituency by virtue of this appointment is a loss that I don't want to stare in the face," Mogaka added.
He concluded that should Kemosi insist on not wanting the position, then President Ruto should consider replacing him with someone from West Mugirango.
The former West Mugirango MP was on Tuesday supposed to appear before the Defence, Foreign Relations and Intelligence Committee for vetting, but he sent in a letter declining the nomination and told the committee it would be a waste of time as he was not interested.
Committee Chair Nelson Koech, said Kemosi had written that he wouldn't take up the position due to compelling personal and family matters.
