Deputy President Kithure Kindiki now says
he will lead the campaign to run his predecessor Rigathi Gachagua out of town,
saying the government will not be intimidated by his anti-government crusade.
In a quick rejoinder hours after Gachagua’s
televised interview during which he blasted the Kenya Kwanza administration
from his Wamunyoro home, Kindiki on Monday fired back at Gachagua, saying the
former DP was in a panic mode because the government had started turning the
tide.
“The former DP should be panicking over the
consultative forums we are holding. He hasn't seen anything yet. We will run
him out of town,” said Kindiki.
The DP, who met a delegation of about 2700
grassroots, political, religious, and economic sector leaders and professionals
from the 12 constituencies of Kiambu County, added that Gachagua did not hold
claim to the mountain.
Kindiki said the government will continue
to implement its promises to Kenyans regardless of the popularity ratings of
the projects.
“President William Ruto is a transformative
leader. He will do the right thing, no matter how unpopular it makes him. Threats
of one-term do not bother him,” said Kindiki.
The Karen residence has been a beehive of
activities since DP Kindiki took over the second powerful office in the land,
with meetings with grassroots leaders to explain government projects to the
locals taking centre stage.
So far, DP Kindiki has met leaders from
more than eight counties, with more meetings slated in the coming days as he
takes over the role of the chief implementer of government projects.
