Bishop Margaret
Wanjiru of the Jesus is Alive Ministries has rescinded her earlier sentiments
directed towards President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua
following a raid on her church premises by police officers this week.
Taking to her
official social media account on Friday evening, in a seemingly apologetic
gesture, the outspoken Bishop shared a warm message about her longstanding
friendship with the country’s top two in command, expressing her willingness to
continue working with them.
Wanjiru, who had
previously rebuked the two leaders blaming them for her predicament,
also shared a photo with the Head of State taken during the run-up to the 2022
General Election.
“I have much
respect and love for His Excellency Dr William Ruto, our Deputy President Rigathi
Gachagua and their families. We started this journey towards building a better
and more prosperous Nation together and we shall finish well, together,” she
wrote on X.
The sentiments
come after Bishop Wanjiru, while in the company of church members, regretfully
expressed her anguish and frustration towards the Kenya Kwanza leadership that she
said she had dearly supported to power.
She ended her Thursday
address, in the aftermath of the
confrontation with law enforcement officials, hinting at a fallout with President Ruto and DP Gachagua.
"I was one of
the founding members of UDA. I campaigned for a whole year when others came to
just steal what I had worked for, yet I let go," declared Wanjiru.
"I have loved
you, my president. I have loved you, my deputy president. I have loved your
family. When you call, I obey. But behold, from this day... tables are
turning."
The parcel of land
on which Bishop Wanjiru's Jesus is Alive Ministries church sits is claimed to
be one of the prime public lands in Nairobi's Central Business District targeted for recovery by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
EACC
on Thursday said it had filed several cases in Nairobi's Environment and
Land Court against private entities and former Land Commissioners accused of
engaging in questionable real estate transactions.
Some of the lands
in question included the one owned by Bishop Wanjiru and Neno Evangelism Center
linked to Pastor James Maina Nganga.
I have much respect and love for His Excellency Dr William Ruto, our Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and their families. We started this journey towards building a better and a more prosperous Nation together and we shall finish well, together.
