'We aren't worried,' Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza responds to impeachment motion
Governor Kawira Mwangaza has
defiantly stated that she is unfazed by a motion tabled before the Meru County
Assembly seeking to have her impeached from office.
This comes after 68 Meru MCAs on Tuesday backed the motion, proposed by Abogeta West MCA Dennis Kiogora, on grounds that the Governor had infringed on Section 10 of the constitution.
Speaking at Nkubu Social Hall in Imenti South on Wednesday, Mwangaza noted that her lawyers would handle the case while underscoring that once the suit is determined, she would be absolved of all allegations tabled against her.
"Hata zile story mnaskia hapa na pale sisi hatuko pande ile bado tunachapa kazi. Mawakili watapambana na wakili wengine lakini najua jambo moja, ukweli haufichiki. You cannot hide the truth; lazima ukweli utajulikana," said Mwangaza.
"Kama hawangenipeleka hatungejua ukweli lakini sasa maana wamekimbia wamepeleka; tutajua ukweli na ukweli itatuweka huru."
Mwangaza likewise reiterated that she landed Meru County's top political seat owing to God's favour and that no man would take it away from her.
"Kama ni mwanadamu angefungua mlango angekuwa na uwezo wa kufunga lakini maana mlango ulifunguliwa na mwenyezi mungu; yeye ndiye aliye na uwezo wa kufunga," she said.
The Governor added that despite the impeachment motion she is still working tirelessly to better the livelihoods of Meru residents.
"We are not worried; we are working na serikali ya mama iko imara na kuwa imara ni katika utendaji kazi maana hakuna function ya serikali imesimama," she said.
"Mimi na wafanyikazi wenzangu wa kaunti government tuko kazi usiku na mchana. Tunapeleka maendeleo mashinani."
She likewise urged Meru residents to remember her in prayer as she continues carrying out her constitutional mandate ahead of the impeachment hearing.
