On February 20, 2014, the modern Russian-Ukrainian war began. Then, for the first time, the crossings of the state border of Ukraine by the armed forces of the Russian Federation through the Kerch Strait were recorded.

The Russian leadership took advantage of the temporary power vacuum in Ukraine, the demoralization of the security forces and began to seize the territories of Ukraine.

Russia prepared for the attack in advance. For many years, it carried out informational and economic aggression against Ukraine, recruited traitors in various echelons of the Ukrainian government, created and financed a powerful agent network in Ukraine, and especially on the Crimean Peninsula.

Crimea is the first object of Russian aggression against Ukraine. In March 2014, Russia occupied the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol, and in April 2014, it began an invasion of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

In 2014, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, supported by volunteers, stopped the advance of the occupation, liberated part of the occupied territories from the invaders, and until February 24, 2022, the main events of the modern Russian-Ukrainian war were taking place in the east of our country.

The full-scale invasion of Russian troops into Ukraine finally tore off the mask of the aggressive Putin regime, which for 8 years had pretended to be a “peacemaker” and a “third party” in the war in eastern Ukraine.

The large-scale invasion on February 24, 2022, brought war to the entire territory of Ukraine. In resisting the Russian aggressor, the Ukrainian people have shown the world examples of courage, resilience, courage, resourcefulness, and unity in the face of a cruel enemy that is numerically superior.

The Russian Federation has unleashed an imperialist, aggressive and existential war against Ukraine, aimed not only at seizing territory, but also at destroying Ukrainian statehood, our national identity, and the genocide of the Ukrainian people.

The Russian state and the ideology of racism, which is professed by Russian politicians and supported by most of ordinary Russians, officially deny the existence of Ukrainians as a separate nation, and those who disagree with this are subject to physical destruction.

Vladimir Putin, obsessed with the idea of “collecting Indigenous Russian lands”, having come to power, has led Russia on the path of restoring the status of a superpower and building up militaristic power.

Russian imperial revanchism sees the Russian Federation as the successor to the Russian and Soviet empires and considers the former republics as parts of Russia that fell away from it, and not neighbouring sovereign states.

This progress towards the “return of Russian greatness” was not stopped earlier. And this led to full-scale aggression against Ukraine.

In the temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories, the Russians are repeating the worst practices of Nazism - mass executions, deportations, abuse of the civilian population, looting and theft of private property, cultural heritage, and museum collections.

The massacres in Bucha, Izyum, and the mass destruction of people in Mariupol became a clear manifestation of Moscow’s genocidal policy.

The atrocities, war crimes, and rapes committed by the Russian invaders in Ukraine shocked the world.

Unable to win on the battlefield, the Russian terrorist state resorts to barbaric shelling of Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure. Most missile attacks are aimed at civilian objects.

The full-scale attack accelerated the consolidation of the Ukrainian nation. National unity became the basis of successful resistance. The offensive of the Russian troops was stopped thanks to the joint efforts of Ukrainians who stood up for the defence of the state in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ukrainian National Guard, and the mass volunteer movement.

The heroic resistance of Ukrainians is not only a struggle for the physical survival of the Ukrainian people and the freedom of the country.

In this war, Ukraine defends its European choice, national identity and values as part of Europe. Ukrainians shed blood for a free, democratic Europe.

Ukraine's victory is a guarantee of world stability. By brutally and demonstratively violating the norms of international law, the Russian Federation seeks to dismantle the international order based on rules, destroy the unity of democratic countries, and return the world to the era of empires, spheres of influence and colonial wars.

Ukrainians have persevered and proven their ability to defeat Russian military aggression.

Today, Ukraine effectively restrains it thanks to efforts on the military, diplomatic, and information fronts, as well as powerful international assistance.

Since 2014, Ukraine has been waging a just war to preserve its independence, the right to free their choice, for its sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Russian aggressor temporarily occupied certain Ukrainian lands.
