Wamalwa warns Kimilili MP Barasa against being used in DP Gachagua's impeachment
DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa has urged Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa to refrain from what he says is being used by the Kenya Kwanza regime to table a motion of impeachment against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
This comes after Barasa, a vocal ally of President William Ruto, announced on Thursday that he will sponsor the impeachment motion against DP Gachagua.
Additionally, Barasa
claimed to have gathered 242 signatures from other lawmakers supporting the
impeachment motion.
Speaking during a burial ceremony in Kimilili Constituency on Saturday, Wamalwa called on the Kenya Kwanza legislator not to be swayed by Mount Kenya politicians in their efforts to undermine the Deputy President.
"Tunaskia mtoto wetu Didmus ndiye atatumika labda kuwa kile kisu kitamchinja Bwana Gachagua. Watu wa Kimilili, hayo ndiyo tulituma mbunge wetu kufanya? Nikimpata, I'll advice him not to be misused," said Wamalwa.
Additionally, Wamalwa emphasized that Barasa should focus on serving his constituents and bringing development to the people of the Western region, whose sugar industry is struggling, rather than engaging in conflicts from other regions.
"Gachagua akiwa impeached, ugali utaongezeka
hapa Kimilili? Bei ya fertilizer itashuka kweli? fees itashuka kweli? Wakulima wa
Nzoia watapata machine mpya kweli? Hapo ndio sisi tunaambia Bwana Didmus, stay
focused on your people not fighting for the others," said Wamalwa.
The DAP-K frontman further criticized the Kenya Kwanza administration for straying from their election promises, stating that impeaching Gachagua is a misplaced priority.
"Leo nataka niambie President Ruto, wewe ulitoa ahadi kupigania wakulima wa miwa Western sio mambo yakuimpeach Gachagua," he said.
