Voi: Stray leopard kills 32 goats in night attack
Cases of leopard attacks on livestock in
Voi, Taita Taveta County have been reported to be on the rise.
The latest incident is that of Wednesday
night in where a stray leopard attacked a home in Mabomani village near the
Tsavo East National park, killing 32 goats.
The leopard is believed to have escaped
from the park and made its way to Mabomani village.
Speaking to Citizen Digital Halik Aziz, who
is the home owner, said it is not the first time the village has been attacked
by the wild cats from Tsavo East National park.
He said they have been living in constant fears
of the continued leopard attacks on humans and livestock.
"This is not the first time this has
happened to our village , we have continued to incur these losses we want KWS
to take responsibility," he said.
Angry residents have been pointing fingers
at (Kenya Wildlife Services) KWS for the slow process of compensation with many
saying they have not been paid for their previous loses.
KWS officers have been contacted and are investigating
the incident, with other officers deployed to search for the stray wild cat.
Residents have been requested to be calm
and be on alert during the operation.
