US committed to working with Kenya in enhancing access to quality healthcare - Amb. Meg Whitman
US Ambassador to Kenya Meg Whitman says that since access to quality healthcare is the foundation for a strong and thriving community, the US embassy is proud to work with Kenyan leaders who are prioritizing health issues.
She commended the existing partnerships between private US citizens and organizations and their Kenyan counterparts, saying that the US government has equally been promoting intergovernmental partnerships.
“The US Embassy is proud to work with Kenyan leaders prioritising the health of Kenyans. These partnerships between private US citizens and organisations and their Kenyan counterparts are the foundation of our two countries’ strong relationship,” said Amb. Whitman.
The US Envoy who spoke in Siaya during the opening of an operating theatre and an Intensive care unit, which was built at Matibabu through a partnership between US private citizens and Tiba Foundation in Ugenya sub-county, said that the project demonstrates the power of partnership.
Amb. Whitman observed that the new facility will help to expend the top quality medical care to not only the citizens of Siaya County but across the Lake region.
Siaya governor James Orengo welcomed the commitment of the US government, noting such partnership will help a great deal.
He stated that through such partnerships, some communicable and non-communicable diseases which are still a burden in Siaya County shall be dealt with appropriately.
