UK's High Commissioner to Kenya Jane Marriott moved to Pakistan
Britain announced on Thursday that she would be taking up her new role in July this year.
“Ms Jane Marriott OBE has been appointed British High Commissioner to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in succession to Dr Christian Turner CMG who has transferred to another Diplomatic Service appointment,” read the notice.
“Ms Marriott will take up her appointment during July 2023.”
Taking to her official social media accounts, Marriott said she was elated at her new assignment adding that she looked forward to working in the Asian country.
“Delighted to be appointed as the next British High Commissioner to Pakistan! & are connected by heritage, strong people ties, climate cooperation & growing trade. Dosti & Commonwealth links can ensure a prosperous future. Aap se jald mulaqat hogi!” She wrote.
Marriott’s tenure in Kenya will come to an end in July this year, four years after her appointment in 2019.
She now paves the way for her successor Desmond Patrick Neil Wigan, who until now is still serving as the Ambassador to Tell Aviv since 2019.
Marriott boasts over 20 years in the public service having first joined UK’s Cabinet Office and Home Office in 1998.
She has also held key roles in other Middle East nations including Afghanistan, Iraq, and Baghdad and has also served in America and Africa.
