'Ukigawa mamlaka utajipanga!' Kenya Kwanza MPs warn Ruto over talks with Raila
Speaking in Nandi County the lawmakers allied to President Ruto warned the Executive arm against engaging in any form of power-sharing as a way of resolving the anti-government protests in the country.
The MPs led by Marakwet West MP Timothy Kipchumba, Sabatia MP Clement Sloya and their Tetu counterpart Geoffrey Wandeto have called on the president not to engage in any dialogue with Opposition Leader Raila Odinga.
The leaders who were speaking while attending a career fair day at Nandi Hills Constituency said there was no need for a handshake between the two leaders claiming it will undermine the implementation of the Kenya Kwanza Manifesto.
“Handshake hatutakubali; na tunaambia Rais ukigawana na Raila Odinga mamlaka, sisi, utajipanga mwana Rais! We are telling our president we do not want a handshake with opposition,” Kipchumba said.
Sloya added: “We condemn Maandamano and want the leaders to sit down and talk. But we won’t encourage our president to have talks of power-sharing with the Opposition. Ongea na hawa watu watulie ili tuendelee na kazi yetu ya kuendeleza Kenya.”
The leaders further accused the Azimio Chief of frustrating the government for his own selfish gains.
“We know what Raila Odinga wants...he does not want Kenyans to have cheap unga he wants to be called on the table apewe nusu mkate,” Wandeto said.
“He wants to get into the government using a backdoor.”
The leaders also lauded the Court of Appeal for lifting the order suspending the implementation of the Finance Act 2023 despite the public and opposition uproar.
“Hakuna nchi itaendelea bila ushuru…we must collect taxes. I want to thank the court of appeal for rising above the politics of deceit and overturning the decision of the High Court and lifting the suspension on the Finance Bill,” Kipchumba said.
