Ugenya
MP David Ochieng has criticized his fellow politicians in the Kenya Kwanza
coalition over their incessant attacks on the judiciary.
In
an apparent reference to Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Ochieng said that
it is not right to name, in public rallies, judges and other court officials
who do not have a chance to defend themselves.
The
Movement for Democracy and Growth (MDG) party leader was speaking barely a day
after DP Gachagua singled out the name of one of the judges, accusing her of
being corrupt.
Gachagua
on Sunday said he is seeking the removal of Justice Esther Maina from office, accusing
her of tainting his image by unceremoniously declaring his fortune proceeds of
crime in a past court ruling.
Ochieng
said that he supports the government's war on corruption but disagrees with the
approach being adopted by government officials.
He
was speaking during the award of scholarships and boarding requirements to some
83 needy students joining Form One in various national schools and the distribution
of bursaries to others joining Form One in local secondary schools.
